Variable Speed Pool Pumps

This collection holds 33 pumps from Hayward (18) and Pentair (15), covering inground (30), commercial (2), and above ground (1) applications — all variable speed models across Hayward's TriStar VS and PowerFlo VS lines and Pentair's IntelliFlo3, IntelliFloXF, IntelliPro3, SuperFlo VST, and SuperMax VS series, with total horsepower ranging from 1.85 THP up to 3.95 THP.

Start with what the pump needs to run: voltage (115V, 230V, or dual 115/208-230V options are all represented here) and whether your plumbing and application is inground, above ground, or commercial. From there, look at motor speed range and programmability — some models offer fixed variable-speed operation while others add multiple programmable speed settings, built-in timers, or relay boards for automation. Certifications like NSF and Energy Star, along with Weighted Energy Factor (WEF) ratings where listed, are worth comparing side by side since they're stated directly on each spec sheet.

Within the lineup, Hayward's TriStar VS models (1.85 THP to 2.7 THP) use a Permanent Magnet TEFC EnduraDrive motor with a Viton chemical-resistant seal, and the VS 820 adds Hayward's Omni automation with Alexa compatibility. The TriStar XE runs at 1.85 THP with up to six selectable speeds and a WEF of 8.5 (230V) or 8.4 (115V). On the Pentair side, the IntelliFloXF reaches 3.95 THP with 8 programmable speed/flow settings and a timer, the IntelliPro3 VSF is rated at 3 THP with a 20–140 GPM flow range and relay board included, and the SuperFlo VST and SuperMax VS both list 2.2 THP with multiple amperage settings for 115V or 230V service.
