Pentair Triton® II 36" Side Mount Sand Filter TR140 Almond
The Pentair Triton® II 36" Side Mount Sand Filter (TR140) is the largest residential Triton II — the original and still the industry standard in fiberglass sand filtration. Pentair's unique manufacturing process creates a one-piece fiberglass-reinforced tank with UV-resistant surface finish for years of unequalled strength and durability — fiberglass locked in to prevent fiber "blooming" under harsh conditions.
Features include a swing-away diffuser for instant sand access, fully threaded internal parts, internal air bleed, and combination sand/water drain for fast winterization. The 36-inch tank requires 650 lb of sand and 275 lb of pea gravel (not included). ANSI Standard 50 certified. Backed by a 2-year warranty.

How does the TR140 (36") compare to the TR100 (30")?
Both are Pentair Triton II residential side-mount fiberglass sand filters with identical service features and 2-year warranties. The TR140 is the larger 36-inch model with 7.06 sq ft of filtration area and requires 650 lb of sand + 275 lb of pea gravel. The TR100 is the 30-inch model with 4.91 sq ft needing 450 lb sand + 150 lb gravel. Choose the TR140 for larger pools or when maximum residential sand filter capacity is preferred.
What is the difference between the residential TR140 and the commercial Triton C TR140C?
Both are 36-inch Pentair Triton sand filters with the same 7.06 sq ft area and 650 lb sand requirement. The TR140 is the residential model with threaded bulkhead plumbing connections. The TR140C is the commercial model using 3-inch flange connections and a multi-diffuser system rated up to 20 GPM per sq ft. The TR140 is designed for residential installations with standard threaded plumbing.
Is a multiport valve included?
No. The TR140 is the filter tank only. A compatible side-mount multiport valve must be purchased separately. Pentair offers compatible side-mount valves for the Triton II series.
