The Pentair Triton® II 30" Side Mount Sand Filter (TR100) is the original and still the industry standard in residential sand filtration. Pentair's unique process creates a one-piece fiberglass-reinforced tank with UV-resistant surface finish for years of unequalled strength and durability — fiberglass locked in to prevent fiber "blooming" under harsh conditions.
The Triton II is the residential counterpart to the commercial Triton C, featuring a swing-away diffuser for instant sand access, fully threaded internals for easy service, internal air bleed, and combination sand/water drain for fast winterization. Requires 450 lb of sand and 150 lb of pea gravel (not included). ANSI Standard 50 certified. Backed by a 1-year warranty.

What is the difference between the Triton II (TR100) and the Triton C (TR100C)?
Both are 30-inch Pentair Triton fiberglass sand filters with the same 4.91 sq ft filtration area and 450 lb sand requirement. The Triton II (TR100) is the residential model — it uses threaded bulkhead plumbing connections and a swing-away diffuser for easy sand access. The Triton C (TR100C) is the commercial model — it uses 3-inch flange connections and a multi-diffuser system rated up to 20 GPM per sq ft, plus carries a 2-year warranty vs. 1 year for the Triton II. Choose the Triton II for residential installations with standard threaded plumbing.
Is filter sand included?
No. The TR100 requires 450 lb of #20 silica sand and 150 lb of pea gravel, neither of which are included. These must be sourced locally. The pea gravel forms the bottom support layer, followed by the filter sand.
Is a multiport valve included?
No. The TR100 is the filter tank only. A compatible side-mount multiport valve must be purchased and installed separately. Pentair offers compatible valves for this tank.
