How does the S8M150 (450 sq ft) compare to the S8M500 (500 sq ft) and S7M120 (300 sq ft)?
All three are System:3 Dura-Glas™ modular media filters. The S8M150 sits between the 300 sq ft S7M120 (28.5-inch tank) and the 500 sq ft S8M500 in capacity. The S8M150 shares the 32.5-inch tank and dual drain plug design with the S8M500, but at 450 sq ft has a slightly lower 124 GPM max flow vs. 130 GPM for the S8M500. Both weigh 147 lb. Choose the S8M150 when the S7M120 is undersized but the full 500 sq ft of the S8M500 isn't required.
Does this filter require a backwash valve?
No. The System:3 design eliminates the need for a backwash valve — simply remove and hose off the modular media elements when cleaning is needed.
