The Pentair Clean and Clear® Plus 420 sq ft Cartridge Filter delivers high-capacity filtration with no backwashing required. The corrosion-resistant, fiberglass-reinforced polypropylene tank houses four polyester cartridge elements totaling 420 sq ft of filter area — handling up to 150 GPM at a maximum working pressure of 50 PSI. To clean, simply remove the cartridges and rinse with a garden hose.

How often do the cartridges need cleaning?
Cleaning frequency depends on pool size, bather load, and surrounding environment. A general guideline is to inspect the pressure gauge — when pressure rises 8–10 PSI above the clean starting pressure, it's time to clean. For most residential pools this is typically every 2–6 months. Simply remove the four cartridges and rinse with a garden hose.
What pool size is this filter appropriate for?
The CCP420 is sized for pools up to 54,000 gallons at a 6-hour turnover, 72,000 gallons at 8 hours, or up to 108,000 gallons at 12 hours. For residential pools, most sizing guidelines recommend a 6–8 hour turnover rate.
