Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Clean and Clear CC200 and the Clean & Clear RP 200 (160353)?
Both are Pentair 200 sq ft single-cartridge filters, but they use different designs. The Clean and Clear CC200 has a standard vertical tank with spin-on unions and a coreless cartridge — a proven, service-friendly design popular with pool professionals. The Clean & Clear RP uses a proprietary side-entry port with a diamond-seal closure and a different cartridge. Both cover pools up to 108,000 gallons and require 76 inches of vertical clearance. The CC200's spin-on unions make it particularly easy for professionals who service multiple pools.
What makes a coreless cartridge easier to clean?
A coreless cartridge has no rigid center core — this allows you to rinse it thoroughly from the inside out with a garden hose, reaching debris that gets trapped in the pleats from both sides. Cored cartridges can only be rinsed from the outside, sometimes leaving residue in the pleats.
How often does the cartridge need cleaning?
Clean when the pressure gauge reads 8–10 PSI above the clean starting pressure. Remove the cartridge and rinse with a garden hose. The coreless design makes this quick — typically a few minutes per cleaning cycle.
