Both are SwimClear 150 GPM filters in the same 18-inch tank. The C5030 has 100 sq ft more filter area — holding more dirt before needing cleaning and extending service intervals. The C5030 ships taller (47.8 in vs. 41.8 in) and weighs slightly more (92 lb vs. 83 lb). Choose the C5030 when maximum filter area and the longest possible cleaning intervals are the priority.
How often do the cartridges need cleaning?
Clean when the pressure gauge reads 8–10 PSI above the clean starting pressure. With 525 sq ft across four cartridges, this filter holds more dirt than any smaller SwimClear, extending intervals. Open the tank using the one-piece flange clamp, remove the four cartridges, and rinse each thoroughly with a garden hose.
Does the SwimClear require backwashing?
No. SwimClear is a cartridge filter — it does not backwash. To clean, remove and rinse the four cartridge elements with a garden hose. This saves up to 2,500 gallons of water per year compared to sand or D.E. filter backwashing.
