How does the SwimClear compare to the Pentair Clean and Clear Plus at similar sizes?
Both are top-quality four-element cartridge filters with no-backwash cleaning. The SwimClear C3030 (325 sq ft, 122 GPM) is comparable in capacity to the Pentair CCP320 (320 sq ft, 120 GPM). The SwimClear uses a top manifold design and a single one-piece flange clamp; the Pentair uses a balanced hydraulic flow design with a separate clamp band. Both are excellent choices — brand preference and existing equipment compatibility are often the deciding factor.
How often do the cartridges need cleaning?
Clean when the pressure gauge reads 8–10 PSI above the clean starting pressure. For most residential pools this is every 2–6 months. Open the tank using the one-piece flange clamp, remove the cartridge elements, and rinse with a garden hose.
Does the SwimClear require backwashing?
No. The SwimClear is a cartridge filter — it does not have a backwash function. Cleaning is done by removing and rinsing the cartridge elements. This saves up to 2,500 gallons of water per year compared to sand or DE filter backwashing.
