The Hayward Pro Series 31" Side Mount Sand Filter with 2" Slide Valve (S311SXV) is a complete ProSeries system engineered with a 2-inch slide valve for commercial, professional, and residential pool installations where a two-position slide valve is preferred over a multi-port configuration. The ProSeries umbrella-fold self-cleaning lateral system provides efficient flow and totally balanced backwashing for long-lasting performance.
31-inch side-mount tank with 5 sq ft filtration area, injection-molded ABS base, 50 PSI working pressure. Slide valve operates in filter and backwash positions. Backed by a 1-year warranty.

What is a slide valve and how does it differ from a VariFlo multiport?
A slide valve is a two-position valve — it slides between Filter and Backwash positions. A VariFlo multiport has 6 or 7 positions (Filter, Backwash, Rinse, Waste, Recirculate, Closed, etc.) for more operational flexibility. Slide valves are simpler, often preferred in commercial installations with separate waste plumbing, or where automation controls the backwash cycle directly without needing the additional multiport positions.
