What is bobbin-wound (filament-wound) fiberglass construction?
Filament winding (also called bobbin winding) is a manufacturing process where continuous fiberglass strands are wound around a mandrel under tension in precise patterns. This creates a tank with exceptional hoop strength and pressure resistance — significantly stronger than hand-laid or chopped strand fiberglass construction of equivalent wall thickness. For commercial pool filters operating at 50 PSI with large sand loads, this construction method provides superior long-term structural integrity.
Is a backwash valve included?
No. The HCF342C is the filter tank only. A compatible commercial backwash valve must be specified and purchased separately. Your pool professional or Hayward commercial representative can advise on the appropriate valve configuration.
