The 522621 includes an acid tank and pump for pH control only — you'd need a separate chlorinator (like IntelliChlor) for sanitizer management. The 522622 adds a chlorine tank and pump so both pH and chlorine are automatically dosed from the same system without a separate salt generator or chlorinator. Choose 522622 if you want complete two-chemical automation with liquid chlorine; choose 522621 if you're running IntelliChlor for sanitizer and only need pH automation.
Does it work without Pentair automation?
Yes. IntelliChem can operate as a standalone chemical controller independently of any automation system. Integration with IntelliTouch, EasyTouch, SunTouch, and ScreenLogic2 is optional.
What is the Langelier Saturation Index?
The Langelier Saturation Index (LSI) is a calculation that determines whether pool water is balanced, scale-forming, or corrosive — accounting for pH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness, temperature, and TDS. IntelliChem's built-in LSI calculator gives you a complete water balance picture, not just individual readings in isolation.
Is this compatible with salt water pools?
Yes — but note that salt water pools typically don't need the chlorine tank, since the salt generator produces chlorine. The 522622 is better suited for traditional chlorine pool installations. Salt water pool owners running IntelliChlor typically choose the 522621 (acid only) and let IntelliChlor handle sanitizer.
