Frequently Asked Questions
What is ORP and why does it matter?
ORP (Oxidation-Reduction Potential) measures the sanitizing power of your pool water in millivolts. A higher ORP means the water has more oxidizing capacity to destroy pathogens — it's a direct measure of sanitizer effectiveness regardless of which sanitizer type you use. Most health authorities recommend maintaining ORP above 650 mV for safe pool water.
What chemical systems is it compatible with?
The HCC 2000 works with all common pool chemical systems including chlorine feeders, bromine feeders, electronic chlorine (salt) generators, acid systems for pH reduction, and CO2 systems for pH reduction. The included chemical feed equipment is compatible with your existing system.
What is proportional feed?
Proportional feed means the controller varies the chemical dose based on how far the measured value is from the setpoint — dosing more when the reading is far off, and less as it approaches the target. This is more precise and prevents the overshoot and oscillation common with simple on/off control.
Does this work with salt water pools?
Yes. The HCC 2000 is compatible with electronic chlorine (salt) generators, making it suitable for salt water pool chemistry automation — pH control in particular is valuable alongside salt systems.
