Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the CAT 2000 Standard Package (CAT2000) and the Professional Package (CAT-PP2000)?
Both use the same CAT 2000 controller. The Standard Package includes a molded flow cell and float-style flow sensor, plus professional-series sensors with Teflon reference junctions. The Professional Package upgrades to a machined acrylic flow cell and rotary flow sensor. Both carry the 5-year comprehensive warranty. The Standard Package is slightly lighter and more compact for standard installations; the Professional Package is suited for applications where the machined acrylic flow cell and rotary sensor are preferred.
What sanitizer types does it support?
The CAT 2000 is compatible with all common pool sanitizer types — chlorine feeders, bromine feeders, and salt-chlorine generators (via dedicated dry contact outputs). It also works with CO2 systems for pH reduction.
What are Teflon reference junctions and why do they matter?
The reference junction is a critical component of a pH or ORP electrode. Teflon® reference junctions resist clogging and contamination better than ceramic or fiber-type junctions — particularly in pool water with algaecides, high cyanuric acid, or other chemical conditions that can foul standard junctions. Professional-series sensors with Teflon junctions maintain accuracy longer and require less frequent replacement.
What does pH priority feed mode do?
pH priority feed temporarily pauses sanitizer dosing while pH adjustment is in progress, preventing interference between chemical additions and improving dosing accuracy.
